Our verdict on xGRC Ascend

For teams that need a structured control library alongside broader compliance work, xGRC Ascend combines configurable controls with risk, document and third-party management. In the controls module, teams can define custom categories and numbering, assign owners, track operating status and set scheduled review cycles. Supporting documents and evidence can be attached to controls, which can also link to risks and suppliers. That makes Ascend a fit for small and mid-market organisations looking to connect control records with related compliance work rather than manage a standalone checklist.

The control-to-framework mapping is a notable strength for teams working across multiple obligations. Controls can map many-to-many to frameworks, standards, contracts and obligations, and framework coverage reporting gives teams a view across those mappings. Risk registers, risk scales and tolerance thresholds sit alongside dashboards and reporting across risks, controls, documents and suppliers. Ascend is cloud-based and offered on the web. The published feature set centers on connected GRC records and reporting; teams seeking a broader suite should compare its scope with their requirements before choosing it.

According to the vendor's pricing page, Delegate starts at A$24 per user per month, billed monthly, and focuses on reviewing, approving and responding within each person's responsibilities. It includes unlimited notifications and reminders and priority customer support; the vendor says per-seat rates vary as seat count grows. Standard starts at A$59 per user per month, also billed monthly, and adds every module fully featured, including risk register, controls, documents, third party and reporting. Both plans include tiered pricing as seat count grows and priority support. A demo-led sales process and ticket support shape the buying and support path. Small teams building a mapped library may find the entry plan relevant; teams needing the full module set should weigh Standard's higher per-seat price, while those who depend on integrations should consider alternatives.
