Xen Orchestra is a web-based management and automation platform for XCP-ng and XenServer infrastructures. It is designed for administrators who need centralized control of pools, hosts, virtual machines, storage, and networks, along with backup, replication, disaster recovery, monitoring, delegation, and automation. The platform is open source and self-hosted, with deployment through the Xen Orchestra Appliance or installation from source.

Its strongest area is infrastructure protection. Xen Orchestra supports rolling snapshots, full and incremental backups, full and incremental VM replication, backup mirroring, immutability, retention, and health checks. Live VM migration, live storage migration, and high-availability VM restart policies extend the operational toolkit. VMware ESXi-to-XCP-ng V2V migration is also included, giving teams a defined path for moving workloads into a supported environment.

The published plans show a free Essential tier with a maximum of three hosts, six tickets per year, business-day support, and one Xen Orchestra Appliance. Essential+ keeps the three-host limit while adding unlimited tickets and complete feature access. Pro requires at least three hosts, and Enterprise requires at least four; both include unlimited tickets, business-day support, and one appliance, while Enterprise adds 24/7 support plus setup and upgrade assistance. Choose Xen Orchestra when XCP-ng or XenServer is the target environment and backup, recovery, access control, or automation matter. Teams seeking a multi-hypervisor management platform should consider a different product.
