Our verdict on XBXPlay

XBXPlay is an Android remote-play application for streaming games from Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles. It is designed for players who want to access supported Xbox games on Android phones, tablets, Android TV devices, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, and compatible Android handhelds over a local network or the internet. The app also supports Xbox 360 backward-compatible games, giving it broader console-game coverage than a client focused only on current Xbox titles.

Control and display options are the main strengths. Streaming supports resolutions up to 1080p, while manual bitrate adjustment gives users a way to tune the stream for their network conditions. On-screen gamepad layouts are customizable, and individual buttons can be mapped. XBXPlay also includes a virtual Xbox gamepad mode, picture-in-picture and multi-window support, and external-display support. These features make it a practical fit for varied Android setups, from a phone screen to a larger connected display.

XBXPlay is distributed through Google Play and as a separately licensed standalone Android APK. The APK license is usable across compatible personal Android devices, while the Google Play option provides the standard Android app route.
