WireMock is an API simulation and mocking platform for developers, testers, and engineering teams. WireMock Cloud supports hosted mock APIs, OpenAPI and Swagger imports, traffic recording, contract validation, and collaboration on simulated services. WireMock Runner and the CLI extend the product to local, CI/CD, Kubernetes, and other self-managed environments. The wider platform supports REST, GraphQL, gRPC, Kafka, SOAP, and additional protocols, while the open-source WireMock library operates independently of the cloud service.
The main strength is its coverage across API design, development, testing, and delivery workflows. Teams can create mocks from OpenAPI definitions, validate mock and live traffic against contracts, synchronize specifications in both directions with Git, record traffic, generate snapshots, and define stateful or dynamically templated responses. Integrations include GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Kubernetes, SAML 2.0 identity providers, OpenID Connect, CI/CD pipelines, and MCP-compatible AI tools. Team sharing, roles, permissions, and AI-agent integrations make it a fit for collaborative engineering groups with varied environments.
Pricing separates a small free entry point from an Enterprise tier. Free is available at $0 per month and includes 1,000 mock API calls per month, one user, three running mock APIs, and community support. Enterprise adds unlimited API calls and team members subject to the license agreement, along with team collaboration, self-hosted Kubernetes configuration, priority support and SLA, SSO, and RBAC. WireMock suits teams that need broad deployment choices and deeper contract-driven workflows. Smaller projects with modest mock usage can start on Free, while organizations needing larger teams, governance, or service commitments should consider Enterprise.
