Our verdict on WireMagic
WireMagic is a desktop wireframing application for founders, product managers, engineers, and design teams working on Windows or macOS. It turns plain-language prompts into editable low-fidelity wireframes, with page organization, reusable blocks, comments, Share Preview Links, and PNG or PDF export. Projects are stored in local .wiremagic files on the user’s device by default, making the product a fit for teams that want a focused desktop workspace rather than a browser-based design suite.
The plan structure separates basic editing from AI-assisted production. Free Basic includes a local editor, unlimited projects, up to three pages per project, BMPR preview, watermarked PNG and PDF export, and two active Share Preview Links. Classic costs $129 one-time and adds unlimited pages and projects, editable BMPR conversion, Alternative Versions, clean exports, and five active links. Plus costs $10 monthly or $120 annually and adds 200 AI credits per month, conversational AI revisions, 20 active links, and use on up to two devices. Pro costs $20 monthly or $240 annually, with 800 AI credits, 50 active links, and support for up to three devices.
WireMagic’s strongest distinction is its editable workflow: generated layouts can be revised conversationally on paid plans, converted to editable BMPR files, and organized into reusable blocks. Its Balsamiq compatibility and PNG/PDF exports help it fit existing low-fidelity wireframing processes, while Claude and MCP-compatible AI agent access in beta extend its ecosystem. The trade-off is a narrow scope: clickable prototypes are not part of the product, and the platform is limited to Windows and macOS. Choose WireMagic for editable AI wireframes and local desktop projects; choose an alternative if you need interactive prototypes or broader platform coverage.
