Wing FTP Server review
A flexible cross-platform FTP server with a free non-commercial edition and enterprise tiers.

Wing FTP Server is self-hosted file-transfer software for Windows, macOS, Linux, and web access. It is suited to teams that need more than basic FTP, including browser-based administration, browser-based client access, virtual directory mapping, audit reporting, quotas, connection controls, and automated events. The platform supports FTP, FTPS, SFTP, HTTP, and HTTPS transfers, giving administrators several protocol options within one product. A free edition makes it relevant to non-commercial deployments, while paid editions extend protocol, support, authentication, and administration capabilities.
Pricing follows a one-time license model for the paid editions. The Free Edition supports non-commercial use, one domain, FTP/HTTP file transfer, and web-based administration. Standard Edition costs $199 one time and adds unlimited domains, weblinks, upload links, lifetime email support, and lifetime remote assistance support. Secure Edition costs $569 one time, includes Standard Edition features, and adds FTPS, HTTPS, and SFTP. Corporate Edition costs $1,299 one time and adds ODBC/MySQL user storage, an event manager and task scheduler, Windows AD/LDAP authentication, and TOTP two-factor authentication. Paid licenses include two years of upgrade protection by default, and a 30-day full-featured trial is available.
Its main strength is breadth: Wing FTP Server combines multiple transfer protocols with integrations for ODBC, MySQL, LDAP, Windows Active Directory, and Wing Gateway. Lua API and RESTful web-service access support automation, while audit databases and real-time reports address operational visibility. User disk quotas, bandwidth limits, and connection limits add administrative control, and Wing Gateway provides high-availability clustering. Teams should choose it when cross-platform deployment, protocol flexibility, and administrative depth matter. It is less suitable for commercial users seeking a free edition or for organizations that need FTPS, HTTPS, or SFTP without moving to a paid tier.
