WEKA Data Platform review
A high-performance file platform for AI, HPC, and other demanding workloads.

WEKA Data Platform is a software-defined, distributed parallel file system for organizations running demanding data workloads. It is designed for AI and machine learning, life sciences, financial trading, engineering, media, and high-performance computing environments. The platform can run on bare metal, virtual machines, containers, public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid infrastructure, giving infrastructure teams several deployment paths while keeping file access within a unified namespace.
Its standout capability is the combination of performance-oriented storage and broad access support. WEKA combines NVMe flash with optional object-storage tiering and supports POSIX, NFS, SMB, S3, and GPUDirect Storage. Automated tiering can move data between NVMe and object storage, while cloud autoscaling helps adjust capacity. Snapshots and clones support point-in-time workflows, and Snap-to-Object provides backup and disaster recovery capabilities. Erasure coding and file-level rebuilds add data-protection options for large-scale file environments.
The platform also fits teams that need connections across cloud, container, and observability tools. Integrations include AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Slack, and PagerDuty. Role-based access control and quotas support administrative governance across shared environments. Licensing follows a contact-sales, subscription model, so WEKA is a stronger fit for organizations planning specialized, high-performance storage than for buyers seeking a simple self-serve file-storage product. Choose it when protocol breadth, AI-oriented performance, tiering, and infrastructure flexibility matter; consider a narrower tool when basic file sharing is the primary requirement.
