Our verdict on Webcron
Webcron is a hosted cloud scheduler for developers, independent professionals, and SaaS teams that need recurring HTTP or HTTPS requests. Users can define schedules through a web interface or standard cron expressions, configure endpoints and custom headers, and let the service run tasks from its cloud infrastructure. Timezone-aware scheduling, configurable timeouts, execution records, and failure alerts make it suited to endpoint-based automation rather than general workflow orchestration.
Pricing uses one-time credit packs rather than a recurring plan structure. Starter costs €2 for 1,000 credits, while Standard costs €8 for 5,000 credits. Pro costs €25 for 20,000 credits, and Enterprise costs €100 for 100,000 credits designed for high volumes. Credits never expire across the listed plans, and a 14-day free trial is available. The service also supports pay-as-you-go billing, giving occasional users a way to avoid a regular subscription commitment. Its REST/XML API can create, edit, delete, enable, and inspect cron jobs programmatically.
Monitoring is a central part of Webcron’s offering. Each execution can retain HTTP status, duration, and response output, while email, SMS, and webhook alerts can report failures, timeouts, or unexpected status codes. Execution timeouts can be configured up to 3,600 seconds. The trade-off is a narrow integration model: Webcron focuses on triggering endpoints and exposing management APIs, while dependency controls, retry recovery, and broader integrations are outside its stated scope. Choose it for straightforward scheduled HTTP calls, logs, and alerts at low entry cost; teams needing dependency-aware workflows or wider ecosystem connectivity should choose a more expansive scheduler.
