Wallarm API Security review
A broad API security platform with discovery, runtime protection, and a free tier.

Wallarm API Security is a hybrid platform for protecting internal, partner-facing, third-party, and AI-consumed APIs. It is suited to security and platform teams that need API discovery, inventory, runtime controls, sensitive-data detection, and specification governance in one product. Coverage includes REST, GraphQL, gRPC, SOAP, and WebSocket APIs. Its capabilities extend beyond traffic inspection: the platform risk-scores API assets, identifies shadow and zombie APIs, scans for leaked API keys and credentials, and supports protection against abuse, account takeover, bots, credential stuffing, and Layer 7 DDoS.
The plan structure supports several deployment and protection needs. Cloud Native WAAP covers web application and API protection, common threat protection, and API protocol support. WAAP + Advanced API Security adds advanced API security, OWASP API Top 10 coverage, API abuse prevention, and API specification enforcement. Security Edge provides managed Wallarm Node deployment, Security Edge Inline, and Security Edge Connectors. The Security Edge Free Tier supports up to 500,000 requests per month, has no time limitation, and includes a limited feature set. A separate 14-day full-feature trial is available through a sales-assisted process, while paid plans are also handled through sales.
Wallarm fits organizations that want broad protection across discovery, posture management, runtime blocking, and response workflows rather than a narrowly focused inventory tool. Deployment combines a Wallarm filtering node with Wallarm Cloud, with managed Security Edge and customer-managed node options, so its hybrid model can accommodate different operating preferences. Integrations span email, Slack, Telegram, Microsoft Teams, Opsgenie, PagerDuty, Jira, ServiceNow, Sumo Logic, Splunk, InsightConnect, Microsoft Sentinel, Datadog, AWS S3, and MinIO. Choose it when protocol breadth, abuse prevention, and connected security operations matter; choose an alternative if a limited-feature free tier or sales-led paid evaluation does not fit your buying process.
