VoxelBooking is a self-hosted appointment and reservation system for salons and other service businesses. For a salon, its time-slot booking pages let customers request appointments while staff profiles, service assignments, and individual availability schedules support day-to-day scheduling. The product also covers restaurants, hotels, studios, and other businesses through resource bookings, capacity reservations, and events. Its fit is clearest for operators who want control over a booking installation and are prepared to manage the server behind it.

The published Free plan costs 0 for the self-hosted software, includes full source code and four booking patterns, and carries no per-booking commission or monthly fee. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0. That price does not remove the operational work: operators provide their own hosting and email delivery infrastructure, and deployment requires PHP 8.3+ and MySQL 8.0+. SMTP email delivery is the listed email integration. Confirmation, reminder, and cancellation emails are supported, alongside cancellation and rescheduling controls. This makes the cost structure attractive to technically equipped businesses, but less suited to salons looking for a hosted service that handles infrastructure for them.

Its scheduling scope includes a day-and-week administrative calendar with rescheduling, branded public booking pages, an embeddable widget, and customer records with booking history, notes, and phone-based deduplication. Multiple businesses can operate from one installation with isolated business data; a read-only REST API exposes bookings, services, tenants, and availability. Those capabilities provide a useful base for a salon that needs booking and customer management, yet no payment processing or calendar sync is included. Salons that need deposits or payments through the booking flow, or synchronized external calendars, should choose an alternative. VoxelBooking is better matched to new self-hosted deployments where control and a free, open-source foundation matter more than those integrations.
