Victoria HDD/SSD is a free Windows desktop utility for diagnosing, testing and performing limited maintenance on hard drives, SSDs, memory cards and other storage devices. It is aimed at users who need direct visibility into drive health, surface condition and hardware information without a paid license. The utility covers surface scanning, SMART analysis, drive identification, performance graphs, defect-related testing and data erasure, making it suited to storage troubleshooting and routine inspection on Windows systems.

Its strongest area is the combination of surface and SMART diagnostics. Surface scans can check for defective areas, unstable defects and interface errors, while quick surface testing adds performance graphs for a more visual view of drive behavior. SMART attribute monitoring, internal SMART log analysis and built-in SMART test results provide several ways to review drive status. Drive passports and hardware-information displays add identification context, and USB HDD and SSD support extends SMART access to external storage. API and PIO access modes provide additional ways to communicate with drives.

The published Free plan is a free download, with voluntary donations supporting development. Victoria HDD/SSD also includes defect remediation functions such as Erase and Remap, along with drive erasure, but these are maintenance functions rather than a broader storage-management suite. Its main boundaries are Windows-only coverage and the absence of bootable-media support. Support also varies by device and interface across SATA, NVMe, SAS and SCSI storage. Choose Victoria HDD/SSD for free Windows-based surface scans, SMART work and selected remediation tasks; choose another tool if you need cross-platform operation, bootable diagnostics or more uniform coverage across storage interfaces.
