Vapi review
An API-driven platform for building and operating phone and web voice agents.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Vapi is a developer platform for building, deploying, and monitoring voice AI agents across phone and web calls. Its API and SDK access, configurable speech and language-model providers, and call controls suit teams creating customer-support, sales, appointment, and other conversational voice applications. It is a better fit for teams that want to assemble and operate an agent stack than for buyers seeking a simple, ready-made phone system.
The published plans separate usage-based access from fixed monthly Success Packages. No Success Package starts at $0 and includes usage-based billing, $5 in free credits to get started, one Vapi phone number, four concurrent calls, and full platform access. Core costs $29 per month and includes five phone numbers, ten concurrent calls, 30 days of raw data retention, and email support. Pro is $999 per month minimum, with ten phone numbers, 30 concurrent calls, 180 days of raw data retention, RBAC and ZDR, and a 99% uptime SLA. Premier has custom pricing and offers custom phone-number counts, RBAC, ZDR, and SSO, with dedicated SIP available. The starting option is not a free plan, and its usage-based approach may also involve provider and telephony costs.
The standout capability is configuration across the voice stack: teams can select speech-to-text, language-model, and text-to-speech providers, with listed integrations including OpenAI, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Deepgram, Twilio, and Google Cloud. Vapi also supports inbound and outbound calls, web voice calls through SDKs, live handoffs, simulations, concurrency management, and monitoring. That breadth offers flexibility but requires teams to make provider and implementation choices. Choose Vapi when API control and configurable calling workflows matter; teams looking for a fixed, low-effort turnkey agent experience may prefer a simpler alternative.
