Valispace is a requirements and systems engineering platform for hardware-product teams. It brings requirements capture, hierarchical parent-child breakdown, traceability, formal reviews, approvals, baselines, versioning and release management into one workspace. Engineering teams can also connect requirements with designs, systems, verifications and tests, while using calculations, automatic verification, workflow automation and collaboration features. It is now presented within the Altium ecosystem as Requirements Portal and as part of Altium Develop.

Pricing is structured around two listed paid options. Requirements Portal / Altium Develop costs $995 per year and includes unlimited requirements, unlimited collaborators and Requirements Portal within Altium Develop. The Valispace plan costs $999 per user per year and adds cloud deployment, Requirements, Components, V&V and Analysis modules, collaboration and review features, automated custom workflows, SSO and MFA. A 30-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan. Enterprise includes everything in Valispace, with optional on-prem deployment, a staging server and advanced update control. Integrations cover Python, MATLAB, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, SolidWorks, Satsearch, SimScale, Duro Labs, Onshape and Google Docs, alongside REST and Python APIs.

The product’s strongest fit is for teams that need a structured chain from requirement definition through design and verification. Formal reviewers, configurable approval steps, baselines, historical comparisons, version comparisons and change-log export support controlled engineering processes. AI-assisted requirement generation, refinement and breakdown adds another workflow option, while CSV, Excel and DOORS import and export support migration and exchange. Teams seeking only lightweight requirement notes may find this scope and annual pricing difficult to justify. Choose Valispace when traceability, verification and engineering-system connections are central; consider a narrower tool when those controls are not part of the workflow.

Valispace pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Hierarchical requirements connect designs, systems, verifications and tests.
    • Formal reviews, baselines, versioning and approval workflows support control.
    • REST, Python and engineering-tool integrations extend technical workflows.
  • Where it doesn't
    • There is no free plan; evaluation is limited to a 30-day trial.
    • The lowest listed plan requires annual payment of $995.
    • Some legacy history features are temporarily disabled in a specific version.
