Uptrace is an OpenTelemetry-native application performance monitoring and observability platform for engineering and DevOps teams. It collects traces, metrics, and logs, then brings them together through dashboards, querying, alerting, dependency maps, distributed tracing, and log correlation. Its deployment options include a managed cloud service, a free self-hosted Community Edition, and commercial on-premises deployments. Teams standardizing on OpenTelemetry or needing control over deployment can use it across web, Windows, macOS, Linux, API, and self-hosted environments.
Pricing is available through both free and usage-based options. The cloud plan includes 50 GB free per month, then starts at $0.075 per GB with monthly billing; volume discounts are also part of the published pricing model. The self-hosted Community Edition is free, while commercial on-premises deployments provide another deployment path. Uptrace connects with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Vector, Fluent Bit, Amazon CloudWatch, Grafana, Sentry, Jaeger, and Zipkin. Notifications can reach Slack, PagerDuty, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, email, and webhooks, giving teams several ways to fit telemetry and incident workflows into existing systems.
Its strongest focus is diagnostic depth around distributed systems. Trace waterfalls show end-to-end transactions across services, databases, and external dependencies, while topology maps expose service relationships. Automatic log-to-trace correlation, unified search, error grouping, stack-trace details, PromQL-compatible dashboards, sampling controls, and monitors support investigation and cost management. OpenTelemetry OTLP ingestion works over gRPC and HTTP, and the MCP interface supports querying telemetry with AI assistants. Choose Uptrace when tracing, open-source access, hybrid deployment, and telemetry control matter most. Teams wanting a broader application monitoring suite should compare alternatives before choosing.
