Universal USB Installer review
A free, broad USB creation toolkit with multiboot, persistence, downloads, and QEMU testing.

Universal USB Installer is a free, open-source utility for creating bootable USB drives from ISO files. It is suited to people who need Windows installation media, Linux live systems, recovery tools, antivirus utilities, or a portable collection of operating systems and utilities. The current UUI Py build runs natively on Windows and Linux, while the classic version is a Windows-native desktop utility.
Its strongest advantage is breadth within bootable-media creation. Universal USB Installer can create multiboot USB toolkits, add multiple ISO files in batch mode, and provide persistent storage for supported Linux live systems. It can also download supported ISO distributions directly, reducing the number of preparation steps when a compatible image is available. QEMU testing adds a way to check ISO files or complete USB drives through a portable virtual machine. Integration with QEMU, VirtualBox, Ventoy, and YUMI also helps it fit into workflows that already use related boot-media tools.
The main trade-off is platform coverage: Universal USB Installer supports Windows and Linux, but not macOS. Its persistence feature applies to supported Linux live systems rather than every bootable image, and its drive-management functions target USB drives prepared by UUI, YUMI, or Ventoy. Choose it for free multiboot preparation, Windows media creation, direct image downloads, and virtual testing. A different tool is more appropriate for macOS-based workflows or requirements outside those supported persistence and drive-management paths.
