Our verdict on UltimateTax
UltimateTax is professional tax preparation software for registered return preparers, tax offices, individual preparers, and small firms. It supports individual, partnership, C corporation, S corporation, fiduciary, and exempt-organization returns. The product covers federal and state forms, electronic filing, prior-year data carry-forward, conversion from other tax software, interview-mode entry, diagnostics, electronic signatures, and client document management through ProClient. It is aimed at professional workflows rather than direct-to-consumer small-business filing.
Its plan structure is built around return type, filing volume, and deployment preference. Pay-Per-Return options support personal filing, while another version adds 1040 software, corporate returns, all states, and 10 users. Online 1040 adds unlimited e-filing, all states, 10 users, and Mac compatibility. Desktop 1040 provides installed Windows software, unlimited e-filing, all states, unlimited users, and corporate returns priced per return. The 1040 + Corporate package combines individual and corporate returns, unlimited e-filing, all states, unlimited users, and an available desktop add-on. These choices give practices room to match the package to their return mix and operating model.
Platform coverage is a central strength.
