TweakStyle review
A focused desktop IDE for live front-end editing, inspection, and preprocessor workflows.

TweakStyle is a desktop integrated development environment for front-end web development. It is aimed at developers who want to edit HTML, JavaScript, images, and stylesheets while viewing changes in a side-by-side live preview. The workflow also covers browser-style element inspection, matching-rule editing, local-to-remote request mapping, and an embedded static server. TweakStyle runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and supports projects created from local files, online websites, and Git repositories.
Its strongest area is live front-end iteration. Syntax highlighting, validation, hints, completion, snippets, and Emmet support the editing workflow, while inspection tools connect page elements with their matching CSS rules. Build-on-change commands extend the workflow to Sass, Less, Stylus, TypeScript, CoffeeScript, and Dart. Sourcemaps and live updates for preprocessors add useful visibility when source files are transformed before reaching the preview. Developers focused on styling and browser-facing changes should find this narrower emphasis more relevant than a broad project-management environment.
The published license terms describe a paid, per-user license that runs on all of the user's computers and operating systems, with future updates included. Git and FTP/SFTP operations require third-party tools, so teams wanting built-in repository or file-transfer management may prefer a more comprehensive IDE. TweakStyle also does not provide remote development as part of its desktop workflow. Choose it for a focused local front-end editing environment with live CSS feedback; choose an alternative when integrated source control, deployment operations, remote workspaces, or broader project tooling are central requirements.
