Our verdict on Trazu
Trazu is a digital painting app for Android, iOS, and macOS, aimed at painters, students, sketchers, and illustrators who want paint-like brush behavior. Brushes simulate paint depletion, wet-on-wet color mixing, and pressure response, while nine painting mediums and twelve textured paper choices shape how artwork looks and feels. It is a focused fit for solo artists working on a mobile device; those who need cloud-based continuity or a broader studio workflow may want to look elsewhere.
The painting engine is the central draw: color picker tools include hex input, an eyedropper, flood fill, and selection, while transform, crop, copy, cut, paste, undo, and redo support editing. Four study views let artists inspect value, temperature, saturation, and contrast while painting, though those views are part of Premium. Trazu supports importing images and exporting PNG or JPEG; Premium adds transparent PNG export, six master brushes, and three master papers. The app works offline and stores drawings locally, so it suits work that does not depend on sync, but device-local storage is a limitation for people seeking cloud access across devices.
Trazu is freemium. The Free plan includes the full paint engine, seven mediums, nine paper textures, and saves up to 10 drawings. Trazu Premium is described as a one-time purchase and adds unlimited drawings, four study views, transparent PNG export, six master brushes, and three master papers. Choose Trazu if realistic paint simulation and offline painting matter more than shared storage or an expansive export workflow. Its published export options are PNG and JPEG, with transparent PNG reserved for Premium; artists who need other export formats or cloud sync should consider an alternative.
