TransMac review
A focused Windows utility for reading, transferring, imaging, and formatting Mac media.

TransMac is a Windows desktop utility for opening and managing Mac-formatted storage and disk-image files. It is designed for Windows users who need to access APFS, HFS, or HFS+ disks, removable media, and files such as DMG, DMGpart, sparsebundle, and sparseimage without using a Mac. Its audience includes solo users, small teams, and organizations handling Mac media from Windows computers.
Pricing is license-based rather than subscription-based. The Single User License costs $59 as a one-time payment for one computer, and the product includes a 15-day evaluation period. Multiple-license pricing is $39 per license for 2–5 licenses and $35 per license for 6 or more. A Site License costs $175 per 10 users per site. The feature set centers on storage access and disk imaging: TransMac can browse volumes, copy files, display partition layouts, save disk and flash-drive images, and format disks as HFS+ for Mac.
Its strongest fit is a Windows environment that regularly exchanges files with Mac-formatted drives or needs to work with Apple disk images. The image tools extend beyond simple browsing, with options to create, compress, expand, and split DMG files, then burn DMG or ISO images to removable media. TransMac is less suitable for people seeking a general-purpose file manager, cloud-storage access, or a multi-platform application. Choose it when Mac storage compatibility on Windows is the central requirement; choose another tool when broader file organization or non-Windows access matters more.

- No free plan after the 15-day evaluation period
- Focused on disk access rather than cloud storage or general file management
