Our verdict on Tplayer

Tplayer is a free, open-source desktop music player for people who want to organize and play local audio on Windows or Linux. It scans local folders and indexes albums, artists, folders, and playlists, with library-wide search across those categories. The published format list includes MP3, FLAC, M4A/AAC, OGG, and WAV. Its emphasis is a searchable local collection rather than a broad streaming service, making it a fit for solo listeners and small setups built around files they manage.

Library tools cover playlist creation, queue controls, shuffle, repeat, batch selection, favorites, and recently imported tracks on Home. A 10-band equalizer with presets adds playback adjustment. The vendor describes local playback and library features as working offline, while YouTube import offers a way to bring in audio from videos and playlists. That combination makes Tplayer more flexible than a strictly folder-based player, though the YouTube feature is an import path rather than evidence of a general-purpose streaming catalog.

Last.fm integration sends now-playing updates and scrobbles listening, and Linux users get desktop media controls through MPRIS. Those integrations give the product useful platform-specific touches without changing its local-first focus. Choose Tplayer if searchable folders, playlists, offline playback, and straightforward library controls are the priority; consider another option if you need macOS today or require a wider set of verified capabilities. The vendor describes macOS packaging as planned, while the published builds are for Linux and Windows.
