ThreatModeler CloudModeler is a cloud-focused threat modeling product for security, architecture, and engineering teams. It builds models from live AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud environments, as well as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Azure Resource Manager templates. Web and API access support cloud modeling workflows, while the product covers multiple threat modeling methods, attack-path analysis, risk prioritization, and templates or frameworks. It is aimed at organizations that need threat models to reflect changing cloud infrastructure rather than remain static architecture documents.

CloudModeler’s strongest distinction is continuous model maintenance. As infrastructure changes, the product updates models and connects components, data flows, trust boundaries, threats, and controls through its Secure Design Graph. Risks can be prioritized by severity, impact, and affected cloud resources, while attack paths can be recorded and replayed across an architecture. MCP Server support adds a way to generate and maintain cloud models, and AI features are included. These capabilities make it a strong fit for teams managing infrastructure through cloud consoles and infrastructure-as-code.

Its ecosystem also reaches into delivery, collaboration, and service-management workflows. Integrations include GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Jira, ServiceNow, and ArmorCode, alongside AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Terraform, CloudFormation, and Azure Resource Manager. Audit and board-ready reporting spans cloud and application environments. CloudModeler uses contact-sales pricing and cloud deployment, so it is better suited to organizations comfortable with a vendor-led buying process and hosted operation. Teams seeking continuous cloud and IaC modeling should consider it; teams needing self-hosted deployment or a broader non-cloud focus should look elsewhere.

ThreatModeler CloudModeler pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Imports AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and major IaC formats
    • Continuously updates models as infrastructure changes
    • Maps attack paths, risks, threats, and controls in one graph
  • Where it doesn't
    • Pricing requires contacting sales
    • Cloud-only deployment limits deployment flexibility
    • Its focus may not suit teams outside cloud and IaC environments
