Thincast Remote Desktop Client is a free RDP client for individuals, organizations and system administrators working with existing RDP infrastructure. It connects to remote PCs, virtual machines, desktop sessions and applications across Windows, macOS and Linux. Support for Apple M-series devices and Raspberry Pi extends its reach beyond standard desktop hardware, while RemoteApp support allows users to access individual remote applications as well as complete desktop sessions.

Its strongest area is the breadth of core RDP capabilities available in a free desktop client. Drive, folder, printer, smart-card, audio and port redirection support helps connect local resources to remote sessions. Remote Desktop Gateway connectivity fits environments that already use gateway-based access, and hardware-accelerated video decoding and drawing are designed for supported devices. WebAuthn authentication adds biometric and security-key options. Linux users also get Snap and Flatpak packages, which provide two packaging paths for that platform.

Thincast Client is a focused access tool rather than a wider remote-support suite. The product does not include unattended support management, recording or mobile apps, and its listed integrations are limited to FreeRDP, Microsoft RD WebAccess and Thincast Workstation. The client itself is free, while Thincast's broader product range includes paid offerings such as RD Gateway and Workstation. Documentation and a contact process are available, but the client does not carry support services. Choose it when cross-platform RDP access and protocol features are the priority; choose an alternative when you need remote-support operations, session recording, mobile access or a broader service ecosystem.
