Themida review
Feature-rich Windows executable protection with strong defenses and a high entry price.

Themida is a Windows software protection system for developers protecting native executables and dynamic libraries. It supports x86 and x64 EXE, DLL, OCX, and BPL files, making it suited to teams that need to raise the cost of reverse engineering, debugging, disassembly, patching, and runtime inspection. Its focus is specifically on Windows application protection rather than cross-platform software delivery.
The licensing structure covers individual developers and larger development teams. The Developer License costs €249 one-time for a single developer or a company with one software developer, while the Company License costs €499 one-time for companies with two or more software developers. Both include 12 months of email technical support and free updates. Existing customers can choose annual plans at €79 per year for the Developer License or €159 per year for the Company License, with technical support and free updates included. A downloadable demo is also available.
Themida’s main strength is the breadth of its protection stack. It combines application, resource, and protection-code compression and encryption with anti-debugger detection, code virtualization, code mutation, metamorphic transformation, runtime string encryption, API wrapping, anti-disassembly, anti-tracing, anti-file patching, and integrity checks. XBundler embeds DLLs and data files, and command-line support can fit build or release automation. Choose Themida when layered protection for Windows binaries is more important than a low upfront cost. Teams needing platforms beyond Windows, or a simpler and less expensive protection tool, should look elsewhere.
