Our verdict on The Business School
The Business School is a browser-based business simulation for Business and Enterprise learners. Student teams operate rival firms in a shared market, making decisions about pricing, VAT, hiring, investment, finance and negotiations. Teachers manage sessions from a live control dashboard, set the pace, monitor firms and use crisis-event controls. Students join with a PIN without installing software or creating accounts, while projector leaderboards and private student reports support classroom delivery. The simulation is mapped to Edexcel, AQA, BTEC and IGCSE qualifications.
Pricing is organised around a free teacher demo, a School licence and a MAT licence. The demo allows a real session without a credit card. The School licence adds unlimited sessions and classes, supports up to 32 students per session, and includes curriculum-mapped reports. The MAT licence provides one agreement across trust schools and a single point of contact. This structure suits schools that want to move from trial sessions to repeated classroom delivery, while the quote-based paid plans make institutional purchasing part of the buying process.
Its strongest fit is for teachers who want controlled competition rather than an open-ended business game. The combination of shared markets, eight-team competition, live pacing, crisis events, leaderboards, reports and CSV export gives instructors several ways to guide and review a session. PIN-based access also reduces student account administration. Schools prioritising a focused web simulation for small, teacher-managed classes should consider it. It is less suited to buyers seeking a broader platform ecosystem, highly documented integrations or a product centred on individual self-paced learning.
