Tessio is an IT service management platform for teams that need ticketing, knowledge management, asset inventory, workflow automation, dashboards, forms, SLAs, and an end-user portal. It suits organizations that want to manage the platform themselves while adding AI-assisted service operations. The Community edition is free for up to five administrators or agents and supports unlimited requesters, giving smaller open-source teams a practical starting point.

Its strongest differentiator is the combination of ITSM workflows and AI features. Tess AI can provide knowledge-base answers, triage tickets, create summaries, draft replies, find similar tickets, and support natural-language knowledge-base search. The knowledge base also includes article revisions, while visual automation supports conditions, scheduled runs, HTTP calls, and scripts. Inventory and CMDB-style tracking extend the product beyond a basic ticket queue. Teams can also use custom intake forms, dashboards, reports, inbound IMAP email, and a brandable portal to shape service delivery around their processes.

Deployment and ecosystem choices are central to the buying decision. Community and Enterprise are self-hosted, while Cloud provides hosted deployment, managed hosting, and upgrades. Enterprise and Cloud add SSO/OIDC and an audit log viewer, with unlimited requesters across the listed editions. AI integrations include OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Ollama, LM Studio, and vLLM, giving teams options across hosted and local-model environments. Choose Tessio when open-source control, AI-enabled ITSM, and inventory or workflow depth matter more than broad collaboration capabilities. Teams seeking a wider collaboration platform should consider a product with that broader focus.

Tessio pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Free AGPL Community edition with unlimited requesters
    • AI answers, triage, summaries, drafts, and similar-ticket search
    • Ticketing, workflows, inventory, portals, forms, SLAs, and reports
  • Where it doesn't
    • Community and Enterprise editions require self-hosted deployment
    • Broader collaboration coverage is outside its ITSM-focused scope
    • Enterprise features use commercial code beyond the AGPL core
