Tengan is an on-premise data center command platform from ePathra Solutions for infrastructure teams, colocation providers, managed-service providers, and enterprises. It brings together browser-based KVM access down to the BIOS, bare-metal OS provisioning, PXE booting, BMC discovery, hardware monitoring, rack elevation, IP address management, firmware management, credential vaulting, RBAC, audit logging, and session recording. The platform is available through web, API, and self-hosted deployment models, with a Smart Proxy designed to connect operators to server-management controllers without exposing BMC interfaces directly to the network.

Its strongest fit is for teams managing heterogeneous server estates. Tengan lists support for Dell iDRAC, HPE iLO, Lenovo XClarity, Supermicro, Cisco CIMC, Fujitsu, Huawei, and Inspur, alongside DMTF Redfish 1.x and IPMI 2.0. That ecosystem coverage complements subnet and BMC discovery, health telemetry, hardware inventory, and firmware inventory and rollout. Operators can also work through REST APIs, webhooks, a CLI, and SDK examples, giving infrastructure teams several ways to connect provisioning and lifecycle workflows to existing systems. The combination of BIOS-level KVM, Kickstart templates, and out-of-band management makes it more focused than a basic server imaging tool.

Tengan is presented as enterprise-licensed and demo-led, with contact-sales pricing rather than public plan tiers. That buying model suits organizations evaluating a broader operational platform, but it gives smaller teams less immediate pricing clarity. The product is also non-open-source and self-hosted, so its appeal is strongest where teams want control over deployment and data-center operations. Choose Tengan when rack visibility, remote console access, provisioning, firmware lifecycle management, and governance need to sit together. Teams seeking a lightweight provisioning utility or an open-source product should look elsewhere.

Tengan pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • BIOS-level browser KVM with session recording and playback
    • PXE, ISO, and Kickstart deployment across multiple nodes
    • Discovery, telemetry, IPAM, firmware rollout, and audit controls
  • Where it doesn't
    • Contact-sales pricing provides no plan-by-plan buying detail
    • Self-hosted deployment requires infrastructure ownership
    • Not open source and focused on enterprise infrastructure teams
