Taxr review
A low-cost receipt tracker for freelancers who need categorized expense reports, not mileage or bank sync.

Taxr is a receipt-scanning and expense-tracking app for freelancers, contractors, and sole traders who want to organize expenses for tax time. It runs on iOS, Android, and the web. Users photograph or upload receipts, and the app extracts the vendor, date, total, and tax, then suggests a country-specific tax category for confirmation. It can summarize expenses by category, store receipt images with expense records, and email reports to the user or an accountant. Taxr says it is localized for more than 195 countries.
The published plans show Taxr Pro at US$2.99 per month, or annual options at US$29.99 through the App Store and US$31.99 through Google Play. Each plan includes unlimited scans. The first 10 scans are free, but that is a limited allowance rather than a free plan. The app’s core workflow is focused: capture a receipt, check its extracted details and suggested category, then produce an Excel or PDF expense report. That makes it a budget-conscious option for people whose records primarily come from receipts.
The tradeoff is that Taxr does not track mileage or connect to bank accounts, so it will not consolidate those parts of expense tracking. Users who need automatic trip detection or bank-fed expense records should look for a different tool. Taxr is a better fit for solo and small operators who are comfortable confirming category suggestions and want receipt-based reports across mobile and web; it is less suited to anyone seeking broader financial tracking beyond receipts.
