Our verdict on Tasty
Tasty is BuzzFeed’s recipe-discovery and cooking app for home cooks who want video-led instructions on a phone or tablet. Its library includes more than 10,000 recipes, with search filters for ingredients, cuisine, dietary needs, difficulty and occasion. It is free to start, and optional Tasty+ subscriptions are available monthly or yearly. The mobile focus suits individual cooks who want recipe discovery and cooking guidance in one app, rather than people seeking a desktop or web-based workflow.
The guided cooking experience is the product’s clearest strength. Recipes pair videos with step-by-step cooking mode, while serving-size adjustments and both metric and US measurements help adapt instructions. Users can save recipes to custom cookbooks, browse personalized recommendations and ask the AI assistant to find recipes based on preferences. Community tips, ratings and recipe photos add context from other cooks. Together, those tools make Tasty a fit for people who choose meals visually or want help following a recipe as they cook.
Shopping is tied to Walmart: users can shop for recipe groceries through the app, with delivery or pickup described as options. That connection may suit cooks who already shop through Walmart, but it makes the grocery feature less relevant to people who prefer another retailer. The app is limited to iOS and Android, and its 10,000-recipe library is narrower than higher-ranked alternatives in the category. Choose Tasty for guided mobile cooking, recipe videos and its Walmart shopping path; look elsewhere if you need broader platform coverage or a larger recipe collection.
