Our verdict on taktjam
taktjam is studio management software for self-employed music teachers and small private music schools. It combines student management, CSV import, recurring lesson scheduling, make-up lesson credits, PDF invoicing, calendar feeds and practice administration in a web service with iOS and Android apps. Student and parent practice spaces provide a place for lesson notes, materials and shared files, while optional AI features support practice and teaching tasks. Its positioning suits teachers who want business administration and learner practice support in one product, particularly in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
Pricing is structured around three plan levels, with monthly and annual billing. Solo costs €12 per month or €120 per year and includes unlimited students and lessons, make-up lesson history, PDF invoices, lesson notes, a student practice space, 5 GB of storage and 50 AI actions per month. Solo Pro costs €19 per month or €190 per year, adding 50 GB of storage and a 10× AI quota alongside practice spaces, lesson notes and materials, and make-up lesson management. School costs €29 per month or €290 per year, plus VAT, and adds team roles, substitutes, attendance, payout statements, SEPA export, family invoices, sibling discounts, groups, a holiday calendar and a scheduling assistant.
The strongest fit is a teacher who needs more than a calendar: make-up credits, attendance, invoicing and practice communication are all covered, with calendar files and feeds supporting wider scheduling workflows. School teams also get role management and payout reporting. However, the payment workflow stops at SEPA export rather than executing payments, and the product has no free plan. Choose taktjam for mobile access and practice-centered administration; consider an alternative if built-in online payment processing is essential or if a free entry tier is required.
