Supabase review
A broad Postgres application platform with a useful free tier and clear paid options.

Supabase is a hosted Postgres development platform for developers and teams building applications around a relational database. Each project includes a dedicated Postgres database, automatically generated REST and GraphQL APIs, authentication with Row Level Security, file storage, realtime data synchronization, and Edge Functions. It is suited to teams that want database-backed application services in one environment, while its self-hosted Docker deployment option also fits organizations that prefer to run the platform on their own infrastructure.
The pricing structure starts with a Free plan at $0 per month, including 500 MB of database size per project, 50,000 monthly active users, 5 GB of egress, 1 GB of file storage, and Community support. Pro costs $25 per month and adds 8 GB of disk size per project, 250 GB of egress, daily backups stored for 7 days, email support, and a first project included. Team costs $599 per month and adds SSO for the Supabase Dashboard, SOC2 and ISO 27001, 14-day daily backup storage, priority email support and SLAs, plus project-scoped and read-only access. Enterprise uses custom pricing and adds uptime SLAs, AWS PrivateLink support, 24×7×365 premium enterprise support, and a designated support manager.
Supabase stands out for breadth: database hosting, APIs, identity, storage, functions, and realtime capabilities are combined with compute and disk sizing controls, point-in-time recovery, and read replicas across regions. The trade-off is that scaling is manual, and the Free plan has a relatively small 500 MB database allowance. Choose Supabase when a Postgres-backed application needs several adjacent backend services, open-source access, or self-hosting flexibility. Consider another managed database option when automatic scaling is a primary requirement or when a narrower database-only service is a better fit.
Supabase pros and cons

- Point-in-time recovery, backups, and read replicas across regions
- Where it doesn't
- Free projects are limited to 500 MB of database storage
- Scaling is manual rather than automatic
- Enterprise pricing is custom rather than published
