Stytch review
A flexible authentication stack for consumer and B2B applications, with a capable free tier.

Stytch is an identity platform for developers building consumer and B2B applications. Its APIs, SDKs, frontend tools, backend APIs, and native mobile libraries cover passwordless and password-based authentication, OAuth, passkeys, sessions, multifactor authentication, single sign-on, role-based access control, and organization-aware authorization. It supports web, iOS, and API development, while embeddable administration experiences, just-in-time provisioning, machine-to-machine authentication, fraud prevention, and device fingerprinting extend the platform beyond basic login flows.
The free Pay as you go plan provides a substantial starting point at $0 per month. Published plan features include 10,000 monthly active users and AI agents, unlimited organizations, five SSO or SCIM connections, 1,000 M2M tokens, OAuth, SSO, sessions, RBAC, and SCIM provisioning and deprovisioning. The plan also includes passwordless and password authentication, SAML and OIDC SSO, SMS OTP and TOTP MFA, organization-level authentication policies, and directory lifecycle capabilities. Developers can connect identity environments including Okta, Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra, OneLogin, PingFederate, Salesforce, and JumpCloud.
Enterprise adds discounted rates, an enterprise support SLA, a private support Slack channel, migration support, a 99.99% uptime SLA, and HIPAA/BAA. That makes the higher tier relevant for organizations that need formal support and compliance commitments, while the free plan suits teams validating or launching identity features without a fixed monthly platform charge. Stytch is a strong fit when authentication and authorization need to be embedded directly into an application. Teams seeking broader connection limits or enterprise service commitments should evaluate Enterprise rather than treating Pay as you go as a full-scale deployment tier.
