Our verdict on StreamYard

StreamYard turns a browser tab into a small television studio. The host opens a link, guests open the same link, and each one appears as a tile that can be brought on and off screen with a click. Branding, logos, overlays, backgrounds, intro and outro videos and custom layouts sit in a side panel, and everything is arranged while the show is running. The broadcast goes out to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Twitch, Kick and Brightcove, or to a custom RTMP endpoint, with landscape and portrait output produced at the same time for clips and Reels.

A free plan covers essential studio features with a StreamYard logo on screen and up to six on-screen participants. Paid plans remove the logo, raise streaming quality to 1080p, allow up to ten participants, add cloud recording of up to ten hours per stream and, on the top tier, up to twenty-four. Multistreaming reaches three destinations on the entry plan, eight in the middle and ten at the top. Pre-recorded videos can be scheduled up to a year ahead, and separate local recordings are captured for every participant, which is useful when a guest's connection wobbles. On-Air adds webinars for a hundred viewers, or a thousand and more on the business tier. Prices are shown in the visitor's own currency on the pricing page, so the number you see depends on where you are.

The browser is both the appeal and the ceiling. There is no instant replay, no NDI, no per-source audio processing, and a long unattended broadcast means leaving a tab open. Teams that produce sport or multi-camera events will pair a desktop switcher with a distribution service instead. If the show is people talking to each other, though, StreamYard removes almost every technical obstacle between an idea and a live audience.
