Our verdict on StreamLight

StreamLight is an open-source Windows 10 and 11 client for remotely streaming games from Moonlight-compatible hosts. Its gamepad-first interface, keyboard support, host and game libraries, and rebindable shortcuts suit Windows players who want more control over how streams look and perform. It connects with Sunshine, Apollo, Vibeshine and Vibepollo hosts, while its GPL v3 release provides an open-source foundation for the project.

Configuration is StreamLight’s defining strength. Players can adjust resolution, frame rate, bitrate, HDR and frame pacing, then apply per-host profiles or per-game overrides instead of relying on one global setup. The performance overlay offers selectable metrics and display customization, and optional VRR support includes multiple timing profiles. These controls make the client a fit for users who actively tune streaming behavior, while the gamepad-first layout keeps the main interaction focused on play rather than administration.

Its ecosystem reach extends beyond the client itself. Optional StreamTweak integration adds host metrics, power controls, updates and remote input, while the core client works across several Moonlight-compatible host options. The trade-off is a narrow platform footprint: StreamLight is a Windows client, and it is not positioned as the host that runs the streamed games. Choose it if you want a configurable Windows streaming experience with detailed per-game control and Sunshine-family compatibility. Choose another product if you need clients for other platforms, a host application, or a simpler setup with fewer tuning options.
