Our verdict on Stratasys Insight

Stratasys Insight is desktop pre-processing software for Stratasys FDM additive-manufacturing systems. It is aimed at production teams that need control over how models are oriented, supported, sliced and prepared for printing. STL import and slice-height selection form the starting point; the workflow extends to custom infill, contours, seams and process parameters. Its emphasis is not general-purpose printer support, but detailed preparation for compatible Stratasys equipment.

The distinguishing capability is control over supports and toolpaths. Insight can generate supports automatically, while operators can edit them manually, create custom toolpaths and adjust individual paths. Custom groups apply infill, contours and process parameters to localized regions, and seam placement can also be controlled. Nested multi-part builds and pack optimization support jobs containing several parts. This breadth is useful when production requires adjustments beyond basic slicing, though it also makes Insight a specialized choice rather than a fit for users seeking broad printer compatibility.

Build files are exported in CMB or CMB.GZ format for production on Stratasys FDM printers, with Control Center or GrabCAD Print in the transfer workflow. Stratasys positions Insight as an advanced option for F370, F370 CR, F770, F900, F3300 and Fortus printers, and notes that it is contained within GrabCAD Print. The desktop application is for Windows, and the vendor offers phone, ticket and documentation support. Stratasys does not publish standalone pricing, so buyers should discuss commercial terms with sales. Choose Insight when detailed toolpath control for supported Stratasys FDM systems is central; look elsewhere if you need vendor-neutral compatibility or a non-Windows workflow.
