Our verdict on Steuerbot

Steuerbot is a web and mobile tax-return application for individuals in Germany. Its conversational question-and-answer workflow guides employees, students, trainees, retirees, couples, and families through income-tax returns. It calculates an expected refund automatically, supports pre-filled tax-return data, and lets users submit electronically through the official ELSTER interface. The service also covers investment income and qualifying rental income, while self-employment and business income are outside its scope.

The pricing structure separates calculation from submission. Refund calculation is always free, allowing users to estimate their refund before deciding whether to file through the service. Tax-return submission costs EUR 39.99 as a one-time fee after the refund has been calculated.
