Our verdict on StackSRS
StackSRS is an Android flashcard app for vocabulary study, aimed at solo learners who want a basic, free deck-based reviewer. It supports creating, editing, and deleting decks and cards, browsing cards, and searching by term. Learners can also download pre-made decks, shuffle a deck, or reset card strengths. Its focus is straightforward card review rather than educator tools or media-rich study materials.
The review method places cards at different positions in a deck according to consecutive correct answers; an incorrect answer brings a card back sooner. That gives learners a clear, position-based system, but it is less adaptive than scheduling based on additional learner or card signals. Text-to-speech can read correct answers aloud, which may help vocabulary practice. Cards are text-only, so StackSRS is a better fit for word-and-answer prompts than image or audio card sets.
Decks can be backed up or shared through installed services, including email, Dropbox, and Google Drive. This is service-based sharing rather than an in-app public deck library, and the app has no server synchronization. The Google Play listing says it was updated on March 4, 2018, so prospective users should weigh the age of that listing when considering ongoing maintenance. StackSRS makes sense for Android users who want local, deck-centered review with simple sharing; learners who need other platforms, synchronized study, or richer cards should look elsewhere.
