StackBlitz is a browser-based development environment for building, running, sharing, and reviewing frontend and Node.js projects. Its WebContainers runtime brings Node.js and related tooling into the browser, while Codeflow adds an in-browser VS Code-based editor, terminal access, package management, extensions, and GitHub workflows. It is best suited to JavaScript and Node.js teams that want shareable project URLs, live previews, and development without relying on a locally configured environment.
The platform’s ecosystem is a notable strength. Projects can be imported and synchronized with GitHub, with support for GitHub pull-request creation and review workflows. Enterprise environments can connect with GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, Bitbucket, JFrog Artifactory, Sonatype Nexus, SAML2, Okta, Microsoft Azure, Figma, and Storybook. The JavaScript SDK and APIs support project embedding and programmatic creation, giving product teams a way to place development environments inside other experiences. Enterprise Server adds private npm registry integration and self-hosted Kubernetes deployment.
StackBlitz uses a freemium model. The Personal plan includes unlimited public projects, public collections, and GitHub repositories. Personal+ adds unlimited private projects, unlimited file uploads, and Codeflow access for private repositories. Teams adds GitHub organization integration, in-browser VS Code through Codeflow, and organization-linked user management and billing. Enterprise Server adds self-hosted deployment, custom SSO, private npm registry integration, and on-premises installation support. Choose StackBlitz for browser-first JavaScript workflows, embedded environments, and GitHub-centered collaboration; teams seeking JetBrains support or broader general-purpose workspace configuration should consider an alternative.
