SST review
A strong AWS-native choice for Next.js teams comfortable defining infrastructure in code.

SST is an open-source TypeScript infrastructure framework for developers building full-stack applications. Its Next.js component uses OpenNext to deploy applications to AWS with services including Lambda, CloudFront, and S3. Teams can define infrastructure in sst.config.ts and work with databases, storage, queues, services, and other resources. It is best suited to AWS-native Next.js infrastructure teams that want application infrastructure represented in code, rather than a hosting workflow focused only on deploying a frontend.
Pricing has two distinct parts. The Free tier includes an optional Console free tier. Console usage for the first 2,000 resources is priced at $0.086 USD per resource per month, while usage above 2,000 resources is priced at $0.032 USD per resource per month. Console pricing covers usage-based access to features such as application logs, alerts, resource views, and autodeploy from Git repositories. Application infrastructure and cloud-provider charges are separate, so teams should evaluate the total AWS cost alongside Console usage.
SST’s platform fit is centered on AWS, with integrations listed for AWS, Cloudflare, Vercel, GitHub, Pulumi, and Terraform. Its feature set covers custom domains and DNS integration, preview environments for pull requests, resource linking, and runtime access through the SDK. The Console adds monitoring and resource management, while the underlying framework keeps infrastructure definitions in code. Choose SST when OpenNext, Lambda, CloudFront, previews, and infrastructure control are priorities. Choose another option if the team wants a simpler hosting experience with less infrastructure responsibility or does not want separate cloud-provider billing.
