SQLTools review
A focused, free Oracle client for Windows-based SQL and PL/SQL work.

SQLTools is a lightweight Windows desktop client for Oracle databases, aimed at users who want a focused environment for SQL and PL/SQL work. It combines Oracle connection management with statement execution, a database object browser, autocomplete, formatting, a PL/SQL code outline, query history, and result grids. It supports Oracle 11g, 12c, and 19c databases, and is available in 32-bit and 64-bit builds. Its portable design also allows it to run without installation, including from removable media.
The editor and database navigation tools form the core of the product. Users can execute SQL and PL/SQL statements, inspect database objects, load DDL, look up objects, run quick queries, and retrieve object counts. Query results appear in a data grid with pivoting and export to text, HTML, and SQL. These features suit developers and database professionals who prefer direct SQL work while still needing browsing and result-management utilities around the editor. Query history adds a practical way to revisit earlier work within the desktop workflow.
SQLTools is most suitable when Oracle is the required database and Windows is the target platform. The compatible Oracle Client requirement adds a dependency to setup, although the portable distribution can simplify how the application is moved or launched. Its scope is deliberately narrow: it does not extend beyond Oracle connectivity, and its workflow is centered on SQL and PL/SQL rather than visual query design. Choose it for a free, open-source Oracle client with a compact feature set; choose another database client when cross-platform access, broader database support, or a visual query workflow matters.
