SQL Maestro for MySQL is a Windows GUI application for administering and developing MySQL and MariaDB databases. It is intended for database developers, DBAs, and data analysts who want desktop tools for database objects, users, privileges, SQL work, data movement, and design. The feature set covers server support for MySQL and MariaDB, SQL editing with syntax highlighting and code completion, visual query building, reverse-engineered database design, BLOB viewing and editing, SQL dump generation, and SSH tunnel connectivity. As a downloadable local-desktop application, it fits teams that manage these database engines from Windows workstations.
Pricing uses one-time licenses rather than recurring subscriptions. According to the vendor's pricing page, the single non-commercial license is $99, while the single business license is $179. Options including three years of upgrades cost $139 for non-commercial use and $229 for business use. Site licenses range from $599 for non-commercial use to $999 for business use, or from $699 and $1,199 respectively when three years of upgrades are included. A 30-day free trial provides an evaluation path, but there is no free plan. The right license depends on whether the use is non-commercial, business, or site-wide, and whether upgrade coverage is needed.
Its strongest fit is desktop administration that benefits from a broad visual toolkit rather than a command-line-only workflow. Object management, role and privilege administration, query construction, visual design, import and export, dumps, and remote access through SSH tunnels bring several recurring database tasks into one Windows application. The narrower fit is infrastructure operations: provisioning and high availability are outside its stated scope. Choose it for Windows-based MySQL or MariaDB administration, development, and analysis; choose an alternative when cross-platform access or infrastructure-level database orchestration is central.
