Spyne is a hosted work operating system for small businesses that combines leave management with attendance, payroll, employee records, daily planning, invoicing and project profitability. Its leave features focus on operational administration: an append-only balance ledger, scheduled monthly accruals, annual carry-over rules with configurable caps, holiday-calendar calculations and approval workflows. Employees can submit leave requests and view personal payslip information through self-service. The product is delivered online without software to install or self-host, making it a fit for organizations that need structured leave administration alongside broader small-business operations.

According to the published plans, Basic costs $19 per company per month and supports up to 30 employees. It includes leave, balances and a holiday calendar; attendance with IP and location evidence; payroll with EPF, ESI and professional tax; plus reports, CSV export and an audit trail. Professional costs $49 per company per month, supports up to 100 employees and lists the same feature set. Both plans therefore center on the same operational capabilities, with employee capacity as the stated difference. The leave module also supports automatic loss-of-pay and payroll proration for excess leave, which connects leave decisions to payroll administration.

Spyne is strongest when the requirement is leave control: balances, accruals, carry-over, approvals, reporting and employee access are clearly represented. It is less suited to teams seeking a dedicated HR policy management system, because the published feature set centers on leave, attendance, payroll and related business operations rather than policy lifecycle management. Choose Spyne when leave administration is the primary need and payroll coordination matters; choose another product when policy creation, review, publication and lifecycle governance are central requirements.

  • Where it doesn't
