Our verdict on Splitty
Splitty is a free, browser-based speedrun timer for solo runners who want to manage splits and compare a run with previous attempts. It lets runners label timers with a game and category, add named splits with cumulative reference times and gold times, and track performance in real time. The web app offers Real Time Attack and Manual modes, along with a configurable start delay and controls for starting, splitting, skipping, navigating back, and resetting. Its focus is on runner-controlled timing rather than automated game detection.
Control options are a notable part of Splitty’s fit. Keyboard shortcuts cover timer actions, while configurable gamepad controller and button bindings let runners choose how to control splits during a run. Timers can be saved and loaded, as well as imported and exported, which supports keeping or transferring timer configurations. These features make Splitty a reasonable match for web runners who want flexible input and run comparisons without leaving a browser-based workflow.
The trade-off is its manual scope: Splitty does not support auto-splitting or leaderboard integration. Runners seeking automatic split triggers or a direct connection to leaderboard services should look for a timer that provides those capabilities. For runners comfortable controlling each split themselves, Splitty combines reference and gold times with real-time comparisons in a free web app. Choose it for configurable manual timing and controller input; choose an alternative if automation or leaderboard connectivity is essential.
