Spire Charity Hosting review
A charity-focused WordPress hosting option with a capable free plan and UK eligibility limits.

Spire Charity Hosting provides web hosting for registered UK charities and UK-based Scouting or Guiding groups. It is aimed at small voluntary organisations that need a WordPress-ready website without an initial hosting charge. The charity plan includes WordPress management, staging sites, LiteSpeed caching, automatic daily backups, NVMe storage, mailboxes, wildcard SSL certificates, DDoS protection and website migration assistance. Eligibility verification is required, and the free plan covers one site with 2GB of storage.
The paid range gives organisations a path to expand beyond the charity allocation. Cloud Micro starts at £2.95 per month and includes one website, 2GB of NVMe SSD storage, unmetered bandwidth, 1 vCPU, 512MB RAM, one mailbox and daily backups. Cloud Lite supports one website with 5GB of storage, 1GB RAM and five mailboxes. Cloud Plus increases capacity to three websites, 25GB of storage, 2 vCPU, 2GB RAM and 10 mailboxes. Cloud Ultimate supports 10 websites, 120GB of storage, 2 vCPU, 2GB RAM and unlimited mailboxes. All three named Cloud tiers include unmetered bandwidth and daily backups.
Its strongest fit is a UK charity that wants WordPress features, routine backups and room to move into paid hosting later. The web-only platform keeps the offering focused, while support is available through email, chat, phone and ticket channels, with UK-based support noted for the charity service. The main trade-offs are eligibility and the required backlink, which make it unsuitable for organisations outside the stated UK groups or teams seeking hosting without those conditions. Charities needing several sites can consider Cloud Plus or Cloud Ultimate instead.
