SPECapc for Creo 9 review
A Creo 9-specific benchmark with eight workflows and reference-machine score normalization.

SPECapc for Creo 9 measures workstation performance on systems running PTC Creo 9. Its eight workflows address organizations comparing systems for Creo work, including Creo users, workstation buyers and computer vendors. The benchmark requires a fully licensed Creo 9.0 installation, so it is not a standalone test for buyers who do not already have the application. It runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit, making it relevant to Windows-based Creo evaluation rather than cross-platform benchmarking.
The workload is specific to Creo operations: three CPU tests cover model operations, regeneration, retessellation and mass-properties analysis; CPU rendering uses Creo Render Studio; and conversion testing uses IGES export or import workflows. Five graphics tests cover shaded, shaded-edge, shaded-reflection, hidden-line and no-hidden-line modes. Composite CPU and GPU or graphics scores, reference-machine normalization and a results manager help compare multiple runs. Selected results can be packaged for SPEC submission, with Creo 9.0.4.0 required for submission. This focus suits teams assessing Creo workstation performance, but not those seeking a general-purpose PC benchmark.
The download is free for everyone except sellers of computers and related products. According to the published plans, qualifying non-member computer and computer-related product or service vendors need a commercial license priced at $2,500 one-time. That distinction matters for vendors evaluating or publishing benchmark results; organizations outside that qualifying vendor group can use the free download. Choose SPECapc for Creo 9 when the goal is structured performance comparison for a licensed Creo 9 setup. Choose another tool if you need broad application coverage, operating-system choice beyond Windows, or a benchmark that does not depend on Creo.
