SpatiumDDI review
A free, open-source DDI platform for teams managing their own infrastructure.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
SpatiumDDI is an open-source, self-hosted DDI platform for homelabs, smaller teams, and network operations pilots. It combines hierarchical IP address management, DNS, and DHCP in one control plane, with support for spaces, blocks, subnets, addresses, DNS records, DHCP pools, reservations, and options. IPv4 and IPv6 allocation includes sequential, random, and EUI-64 strategies, while subnet splitting, merging, free-space discovery, and CIDR planning support network administration work.
Its strongest fit is for teams that want to manage their own deployment and keep IPAM, DNS, and DHCP functions together. DNS management works with BIND9, PowerDNS, or Technitium, while DHCP capabilities include scopes, pools, reservations, options, and DHCPv6 modes. Audit logging and lease history add operational visibility, and scoped API tokens provide controlled REST API access. Integrations include Kea, Windows DNS and DHCP, Cloudflare, Amazon Route 53, Azure DNS, Google Cloud DNS, and NetBox.
Deployment options include Docker Compose and Kubernetes with Helm, with a beta appliance image also identified. The software is released under Apache 2.0 and is free wherever run. That combination suits self-hosted teams seeking broad DDI coverage without a paid plan structure. However, the project identifies itself as beta software, so teams needing a mature managed service or avoiding infrastructure ownership should consider an alternative. SpatiumDDI is a stronger choice for pilots, homelabs, and smaller network operations groups that can operate Docker or Kubernetes and value an open-source control plane.
