Spanner Graph review
A managed graph capability for teams that need graph and relational models together.

Spanner Graph is a managed graph database capability built on Google Cloud Spanner. It is designed for applications that need property graphs alongside relational data, including fraud detection, recommendations, knowledge graphs, customer 360, cybersecurity, and network analysis. Its ISO GQL-compatible query interface and declarative mapping of relational tables to property graphs support work across graph and SQL models. Teams already working within Google Cloud will find its platform context particularly relevant.
The feature set extends beyond graph queries. Spanner Graph includes integrated full-text and vector search, plus managed algorithms for centrality, clustering, similarity, and path finding. It also supports transparent sharding and elastic horizontal scalability, while synchronous replication across read-write and read-only replicas supports distributed deployments. Point-in-time recovery provides up to seven days of version retention, and the service supports on-demand and scheduled full or incremental backups. Enterprise Plus adds support for dual-region and multi-region configurations.
Spanner Graph is available in the Spanner Enterprise and Enterprise Plus editions, and the published offering is paid rather than free. A 90-day trial provides an evaluation window. Integrations include LangChain, Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, and BigQuery, with web and API access listed. This makes the product a strong fit for graph applications that need relational interoperability, search, distributed scaling, and Google ecosystem connections. Teams seeking a general-purpose database without a graph-centered workload, or a permanently free plan, should consider a different option.
