Spacelift review
A broad IaC orchestration platform for teams standardizing multi-engine workflows.

Spacelift is an infrastructure-as-code orchestration platform for platform, DevOps, and SRE teams. It connects source-control repositories, cloud providers, and configurable workers around stack-based workflows. The platform supports Terraform, OpenTofu, Pulumi, Kubernetes, CloudFormation, Ansible, and Terragrunt, making it suited to organizations managing more than one IaC engine. Web and API access support deployments, approvals, policy enforcement, state management, drift detection, resource imports, and self-service workflows.
Breadth is Spacelift’s defining strength. Teams can combine public and private worker pools with stack dependencies, shared outputs, VCS-integrated proposed and tracked runs, and policy as code using Open Policy Agent and Rego. Scheduled drift detection can include optional reconciliation, while state can be managed by Spacelift or by the customer. Integrations cover AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, GitHub, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Docker, GraphQL, and webhooks. This makes the product a strong fit for centralized platform teams that need a common control layer across cloud and delivery systems.
The pricing structure creates a clear divide between evaluation and larger-scale adoption. Free is always available for small teams with 2 users and 1 public worker. Starter+ costs $20,000 per year and adds a private worker, Spaces, IaC support, VCS integration, drift detection, and a Policy as Code engine. Business adds 3 private workers, Blueprints, Templates, advanced scheduling, and a private provider registry. Enterprise adds 5–30 private workers, audit trail, SAML 2.0 SSO, OIDC API keys, and MFA, while Enterprise+ adds self-hosted, FedRAMP, and on-premise or air-gapped deployment options. Choose Spacelift when multi-engine orchestration and governance justify its scope; smaller teams with simpler workflows may prefer a narrower tool.
