SolarWinds Virtualization Manager (VMAN) is self-hosted virtualization management software for IT teams overseeing on-premises, cloud-connected, and hybrid environments. Through the SolarWinds Platform, it provides real-time monitoring for virtual machines, hosts, clusters, datastores, CPU, memory, I/O, and storage. Support for VMware vCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, Proxmox VE, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure makes it suited to teams managing more than one virtualization platform. Windows, web, and API access are supported.

The published self-hosted plans show two tiers. Advanced starts at $14 USD per node per month with annual billing and includes virtualization monitoring and management, ML-powered anomaly-based alerting, flow monitoring and analysis, and server configuration management. Premier costs $17.50 USD per node per month with annual billing and adds storage performance monitoring, web performance monitoring, Incident Response user licenses, and value-based licensing. A 30-day free trial is available. VMAN is also available as a standalone Orion module by custom quote and is included in SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted.

Its strongest fit is operational visibility and optimization rather than a narrow hypervisor-management workflow. Capacity planning, historical trend analysis, VM sprawl detection, resource reclamation recommendations, placement and right-sizing guidance, and dependency mapping help teams identify pressure before it affects infrastructure planning. Administrators can also power, reboot, suspend, and manage resources, snapshots, and VM migrations between hosts or storage locations. Teams seeking a focused platform for monitoring and optimization across mixed environments should consider VMAN. Organizations primarily looking for a high-availability or disaster-recovery suite should choose a product built around those functions instead.
