SmartShield review
Windows recovery software combining reboot rollback, ransomware protection and endpoint controls.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
SmartShield is Windows endpoint protection software for individual PC owners and organizations that need to undo unwanted system changes, malware effects or ransomware damage. Its recovery model combines a restore command with reboot-based full-device recovery, while file and document protection, optional designated-folder protection and sensitive-data controls extend beyond basic rollback. The Home edition targets individual users; enterprise editions add administration for multiple protected computers.
Published plans show SmartShield Home at $19.95 USD per year, with ransomware and virus protection plus updates and support. A 30-day free trial is available without a card. The Ransomware Recovery Manager Enterprise edition adds centralized administrator controls, monitor, reboot and restore technology, and full device and data recovery. The Bulk Seats edition is intended for multi-user and multi-office installations and adds centralized policy management alongside full recovery. Enterprise pricing is presented as starting prices and may depend on seat volume, so organizations should confirm the appropriate licensing level for their deployment.
SmartShield supports stand-alone licensing or management through SmartControl. Enterprise administrators can remotely control endpoints, deliver updates, manage power settings and apply policies from a central console. Deployment is desktop-based and Windows-only, which makes the product a focused fit for Windows estates rather than mixed-platform environments. Support channels include email, phone, tickets and documentation, with no 24/7 support offering listed. Choose SmartShield if reboot rollback, ransomware recovery and centralized Windows administration are priorities; consider another category option if you need macOS or Linux coverage, a free plan or round-the-clock support.
