Slipway deploys applications and connected services from GitHub or GitLab repositories onto managed infrastructure. It is designed for teams that need isolated, shareable live environments for pull requests, as well as production deployments. Services, networking, volumes, secrets, and health checks can be described in a repository manifest or Docker Compose. Each preview receives an HTTPS URL and can be automatically removed when its pull request closes.

The pricing structure starts with a Free plan at $0 per month, including pull-request previews, no card required, 100 GB of egress, and up to 1 vCPU / 1 GiB per service. Hobby costs $5 per month and adds unlimited projects and previews, persistent disks and scaling, one seat, and a monthly usage credit. Pro costs $20 per seat per month, with unlimited seats, access controls, a bring-your-own-cluster add-on, and a monthly usage credit. Enterprise adds dedicated infrastructure, SLAs, on-premises or air-gapped installation, and a named engineer. Pricing also combines plan fees with metered CPU, memory, storage, and egress charges.

Slipway’s strongest fit is a development workflow centered on pull-request previews and full-stack environments. Managed Postgres and Valkey databases, snapshot-backed preview volumes, configurable expiry, wildcard TLS, streaming logs, and in-app shell access support more than a static application preview. GitHub, GitLab, Docker Compose, web access, an API, self-hosting, and an MCP server for coding-agent workflows broaden its deployment options. Teams wanting preview environments with multi-repository services and connected data should consider Slipway; teams seeking a simple static preview tool or a fixed-cost service without metered infrastructure charges may prefer a narrower alternative.

Slipway pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Automatic HTTPS previews for GitHub and GitLab pull requests
    • Multi-repository stacks with preview databases and snapshot-backed volumes
    • Free plan plus Docker Compose, logs, and shell access
  • Where it doesn't
    • Usage charges apply for CPU, memory, storage, and egress
    • The Free plan limits each service to 1 vCPU and 1 GiB
    • Advanced controls and dedicated infrastructure require higher tiers
